It comes as no surprise that Gorillaz have done more than their fair share of touring. Gorillaz continues to tour consistently putting on sold out epic concerts! See below for a list of upcoming venues that Gorillaz will be making a stop at!

What stands out is how hard the band worked, especially in its early days, to maintain the feel of the Gorillaz universe. Several tours hid the band from view and used computer generated animations to represent the bands performing live. It’s a style that is seen frequently in Japanese virtual concerts and is a huge part of the Gorillaz identity.

Ever since the band formed, they’ve had seven tours, including the upcoming 2022 World Tour. And here’s some info about some of the highlights.

  • Gorillaz Live (2001-2002)This tour was introduced to support the band’s debut album. And, as you can imagine, it faced early difficulties because of the logistics of an animated band going on tour. Jamie Hewlet was quoted in a mid-2001 interview as saying , “We’ve come to realize that we’ve come up with something that’s a bit ahead of its time and the technology doesn’t exist to do everything we want to do, so the live show was something we had to really think about.” As a compromise, the band played behind a giant cinema screen which projected music videos and visuals to the crowd. Because of discomfort with the setup, this would be the only tour to have the band silhouetted behind a screen.
  • Demon Days Live (2005-2006)
The second tour was a limited concert tour in support of their second album. It had live shows played at the Manchester Opera House in England and five played at New York City’s Apollo Theater. The Manchester residency was later released onto DVD as “Demon Days: Live at the Manchester Opera House.
at the Manchester Opera House.[4] One of the New York shows was broadcast on MHD (now MTV Live) as Gorillaz: Live in Harlem.[5] The Manchester Opera House film was later nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Music Film.
  • 2022 World Tour (2022)The current World Tour saw Gorillaz playing in South America, Europe, Australia, and an upcoming visit to North America where the band debuted new material. It all began with a teaser of new songs in June 2022 with promotional displays and websites surfacing that encouraged fans to sign up and be a part of “The Last Cult”.
